Explore some of the challenges facing services in delivering palliative care. Describe the range of services and facilities provided by the hospice both in-house, the local hospital and in the local communities. Recognise what people with life limiting illness and their family need in terms of care and support as they live with illness and at end of life. Explore the experiences of family carers relating to the gaps in palliative care practice at end of life. Discuss aspects of care that could be improved and how this may impact on patient/carer experience.
