Based at Strathcarron Hospice, covering Cumbernauld, Kilsyth and villages

Hours – 10 hours per week (Annualised Hours)

Are you a dynamic, experienced, enthusiastic Support Worker ready to take on the challenge of being involved at the start of a new and exciting community palliative care project being rolled out across Lanarkshire?

Compassionate Lanarkshire (CLAN)is a partnership project between St Andrew’s, Kilbryde and Strathcarron Hospices which will support individuals and carers living with deteriorating health in their own homes. It aims to aims to help reduce isolation and loneliness and enable individuals and carers to live well right up to the end of life.

We are looking to recruit an experienced support worker who along with CLAN volunteers will provide emotional, practical and therapeutic support to individuals with deteriorating health and their carers in their own homes. This will include: identifying and building on people’s strengths, increasing knowledge of local resources services and supports, helping them manage stress and anxiety, enhancing resilience and improving emotional health and wellbeing.

You must have excellent communication skills and a passion to enable people with deteriorating health to continue to live well in their community. You must be able to develop supportive and enabling relationships with people and their carers, work with a wide number of agencies, be able to nurture community volunteers and have excellent organisational skills. If so you may be just who we are looking for! 

You must be educated to HNC / SVQ 3 level in a relevant field. 

This role necessitates flexible working (day/ evening/ weekends) and a considerable amount of travel. Therefore a car and clean driving licence are essential. 

The post holder will be subject to a check by Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme.
