Martin and I met through online dating almost 5 years ago and it didn’t take long to realise that we were meant for each other. We have been engaged for 2 years now. Martin and I have three children from our previous relationships and have become a blended family. After struggles with fertility, we finally got our miracle and our family increased when our daughter Emily was born. We are an active family. During the day Martin works as Joiner and I am a childminder. Our children are everything to us and our days and nights are spent making sure they attend all their clubs and lessons or coaching their football.

Last year we started to think about our wedding but our priorities quickly changed. My mum Michelle (47) was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer in the last week of October 2018. My mum moved into Strathcarron Hospice. The family were informed that Christmas would be our last with mum. Sadly mums cancer was too aggressive and she lost her battle on the 26th of November 2018. Leaving behind her three children Jack (12), Nicole (21), and me. Plus her grandson Tyler(4) and she was heart broken knowing she would not get to meet her second grandchild Emily.

It would be amazing to win our dream wedding but if we don’t we will equally be happy knowing we are supporting a charity extremely close to our heart. The Strathcarron nurses gave my mum and our family the best care and the wonderful counselling our family received especially my little brother. The staff have even helped me to support my son through the grieving process. It is an honour to be able to fundraise for an outstanding unit. Every member of staff from the nurse to the kitchen staff are all super heroes and deserve all the support we can provide for them.

How will the money raised help Strathcarron Hospice?

Every year, Strathcarron provides care and support to over 1,400 people with a life-limiting illness or condition, at a time when both they and their family need it most. The Hospice philosophy is about living until you die and Strathcarron ensure people have every opportunity to achieve their goals right up until the last moment.

As an independent hospice all care is provided free of charge and services include a 24-bed inpatient unit, Day Care, [email protected], Community Nurse Specialists and Lymphoedema clinic. Strathcarron need to raise over £12,900 every day to keep these services running. Thank you for helping.
