On 21st April 1981, Strathcarron Hospice welcomed its first patient. During the last 40 years we have cared for great grandparents, parents and loved ones with specialist compassionate care.

None of this would be possible without our local community. Today we thank you all for your enduring support and dedication; our staff, volunteers, supporters and friends - we have achieved so much since the dream of bringing a hospice here was realised and we extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone for your love and support.

This evening, local landmarks across Forth Valley, Cumbernauld & Kilsyth will light up blue to mark this very special 40th anniversary of our opening. Strathcarron Hospice Chief Executive, Irene Mckie:

"We are delighted with these gestures across Forth Valley, Cumbernauld & Kilsyth. It has always been a great privilege for us to provide our service to our local community. After such a difficult year when our staff have worked so hard to keep services going and expand our community based care, it is a huge morale boost for them to have this recognition. Thank you so much for your support”

Sites including the Wallace Monument in Stirling, Speirs Centre in Alloa, Falkirk Wheel and North Lanarkshire Council's Civic Centre. We extend our thanks to Stirling Council, Falkirk Council, Clackmannanshire Council and North Lanarkshire Council for these kind gestures.
