We are delighted to have received the external evaluation Report for our Hospice@Home Service which outlines the huge impact that this Service has made.

As well as confirming that the quality of service is excellent, the Report demonstrates that the Hospice@Home Service successfully reduces the amount of time that a patient spends in hospital in the last two weeks of life. The report compared Hospice@Home patients with patients who did not use the Service but had the same diagnosis and it concludes that each patient, on average, uses six fewer hospital (or Hospice) bed days.

One of the main reasons for setting up the Service was to enable people to stay at home or be discharged home at the end of life where this was their wish and this Report demonstrates that this has been achieved.

Importantly, for the Health and Social Care Services, a Hospice@Home patient uses less NHS and Social Care resources. Without our Service, the NHS would need at least six more beds every day.

The service has now been in place for over 5 years, and now supports more than 350 patients a year.
