As Covid rules start to ease, some people are very excited to return to normal and feel they are able to leave their homes and mix with others again.  However, we know that there will be many people who won’t be able to do this.  Perhaps they are too unwell to leave their homes or have caring responsibilities; perhaps they have lost confidence as a result of shielding; perhaps have been bereaved and are at a loss about how or where to begin to meet others.

Over the past year Strathcarron Compassionate Communities team have found new ways to support people whilst remaining physically distant. We have offered a range of ways to connect people with others through Telephone Befriending, a new Connecting People project and online workshops, including a fabulous storytelling workshop.  Whilst our face to face services are beginning to reopen, we are committed to ensuring that there are still ways for everyone to be connected with others. We will be continuing with our telephone and online options.  We will also offer support to people who are looking to become more confident when leaving the house or who wish to know more about the things that are happening in their own local community, for example social groups, coffee mornings.  This could be by introducing you to another person in your community, or who attends a group that you would like to go to.

If you would like to be involved in anyway, please contact the Compassionate Communities Team on 01324 826222 or email [email protected]
