Summertime has most definitely arrived this week bringing us beautiful weather.

There’s no better time to get out and about enjoying the fresh air and sunshine long into the evening. And of course, we are incredibly lucky that the Falkirk area has been nominated as the best place for a walk in the UK after it picked up a national award for the ‘best walking neighbourhood’ A public vote organised by charity Ramblers saw the work of Falkirk Council and its partners in helping to develop and maintain its path network stretching 383 miles locally rewarded with the country’s top accolade for walking. Walkable neighbourhoods bring not only the physical and mental health benefits of walking and being able to access green space; places where people walk regularly also have more connected communities.

If you are keen to explore and your award-winning  local path network of just under 400 miles but needing just a little bit of motivation why not consider taking up the brand new Strathcarron Step Challenge. The domestic care team at the Hospice walk on average 15 thousand steps every day to keep all areas spotless for patients, families and all visitors. Challenge yourself to walk in their shoes by reaching 450 thousand steps over the course of a month. This is something you can do on your own or as a team with friends, family, colleagues and, of course, your four-legged friends.
