Hi there!

Thanks for checking out my page. My name is Julia, my friends call me Jools. I am taking on the biggest challenge of my life, an 11 day trip to Tanzania to trek up Mount Kilimanjaro raising funds for a very worthwhile cause.

I was given this amazing opportunity by my employers, Stevenson & Marshall LLP, and the team at Strathcarron to be a part of a group of people raising much needed funds for Strathcarron Hospice.

Strathcarron Hospice in Denny provides exceptional care to people in the community living with limiting conditions, as well as much needed respite to their families. The care and assistance they provide to their patients and families is invaluable in making the final moments as precious and comfortable as possible. The staff and volunteers at Strathcarron are exceptional, working tirelessly and unconditionally, always with a smile. To continue to provide this care the Hospice needs to find a massive £12,900 per day and we want to help them by raising as much funds as we can, and we hope you can support us on our journey.

This is a huge challenge for me. On a personal note I've taken on this challenge, not only because it incorporates two of my favourite things, travel and the great outdoors, but it has also given me the motivation to get fit and lose weight. A couple of years ago I was diagnosed with a condition, not a life-threatening one but nevertheless, having been healthy up to that point it knocked me for six. I gave up my running and started gaining weight rapidly. All this led to low self-esteem, lack of motivation and a lot of self-doubt. It's a scary thought going on that way and trekking up Kilimanjaro.

I won't lie I'm terrified, but I'm also very excited. I'm raising funds for a worthwhile cause and I'm doing something to better myself. How can I not be proud of myself for even attempting it? I know it won't be easy but I'm determined that I will be standing on top of that mountain, looking out at the world and saying to myself "I did it", and for those who believe in me I will prove it!

I have been tasked with raising the sum of £4,150. Any money donated via this page goes directly to the Hospice and anything, no matter how small, will make such a huge difference!

Thanks for taking the time to read my story and thank you for your support!

Jools
