Over the past two years I have been training as a GP in the Forth Valley area and I've had the privilege of seeing some of the amazing work that is done by Strathcarron. Their work both in the hospice, out in the community and beyond is invaluable to the community, with staff providing support to patients and relatives during their time of need as well as supporting local GPs and hospital doctors in better caring for patients.

Every year, Strathcarron provides care and support to over 1,400 people with a life-limiting illness or condition, at a time when both they and their family need it most. The Hospice philosophy is about living until you die and Strathcarron ensure people have every opportunity to achieve their goals right up until the last moment.

As an independent hospice all care is provided free of charge and services include a 24-bed inpatient unit, Day Care, [email protected], Community Nurse Specialists and Lymphoedema clinic. Strathcarron need to raise over £11,000 every day to keep these services running.

I'm planning on running* the Stirling Half to raise money for such a great cause. I've never done a half before, and knowing it's for such a good cause will spur me on when I hit the inevitable wall(s)!

*Term used lightly; jogging/plodding or eventually crawling might be more realistic!

Thank you for giving generously.
