We were delighted to welcome a group of Strathcarron supporters to the Hospice recently to present a cheque for a phenomenal £9,158 for our Children's Bereavement Service. The Strictly Spectacular was organised by Audrey Morrison and held at the Macdonald Inchyra Hotel in Polmont on 31st August 2019 and featured a live competition with volunteers partnered with professional dancers.

There were also demonstrations from current Scottish ballroom dance champions and youngsters who trained and took part in the STV Appeal's Strictly for Kids event.

Strathcarron Hospice provides support to children and young people aged 6 to 18 who have experienced the loss of someone significant in their life due to bereavement. This support is provided using the Seasons for Growth programme in age specific groups of  up to seven children. We aim to run up to eight groups per year, with two groups per week after school for a total of 8 weeks. The groups are led by a trained adult companion and an adult volunteer, and the aim of the programme is to help normalise the circumstances and feelings the young people are experiencing, and to find ways to help manage these feelings. There is also a one off parents group for children attending Seasons, which helps parents to understand how best to support their children.

We are delighted that Audrey chose to support this service as part of the Year of the Child 2018 and extend our thanks and appreciation to everyone who contributed to such a fantastic night and generous donation to this service.
