A visit to Day Care enables you to meet with others in a similar situation, as well as having the chance to discuss all aspects of your illness with staff. If you have particular needs or concerns, these can be discussed with nursing staff who will call on the wider Hospice team and services to support you in the best possible way. This might be from the Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Relaxation team, Hospice physicians, Patient & Family Support Team, Chaplain or Pharmacist

I was referred to Day Care by my District Nurse and I feel it’s the best day of the week for me. The thing I value most is I can be myself.

During your day with us you can also spend time talking to fellow patients; pursue your own creative projects; join in group sessions and engage with a variety of interesting visitors from across the community. We also offer the chance to have a haircut or unwind with a relaxing massage or reflexology (complementary therapy). In addition to our social activities we provide a freshly prepared lunch and refreshments throughout the day.

It’s the only day I can get out. I like the arts and crafts. I can lose myself and it’s an escape.

With different people and surroundings to enjoy, spending the day with us can revitalise you and give valuable respite to your carers and family members. Our staff and those who volunteer with us provide a friendly welcome with plenty of laughter and emotional support.

It’s a wonderful supportive network with two sides, the professional help and advice and the entertainment.

Like all services offered by Strathcarron Hospice, Day Care is completely free of charge. For more information go to Day Care FAQs or download the leaflet.

For general enquiries email [email protected] or telephone switchboard on 01324 826222 and they will direct your call to the most appropriate member of staff available.
