COVID-19 Update

The Rehab Team hasn't paused any clinical services and is continuing to see patients who are admitted to the in-patient unit who need support to regain function and abilities they have lost to due to their condition and to help them return home to their families as quickly as possible. The team is also seeing patients in the community who need support to stay as independent and safe in their own homes for as long as possible.

To help you live well at home, we have produced some simple sitting and laying exercise videos. You can access these here.

The team is made up of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, a Rehab Nurse and a Therapy Assistant Practitioner. There is also access to Speech and Language Therapy.

Some examples of what the team do include helping people to explore different ways to:

  • adapt their daily routine so that they can be more independent.
  • improve their ability to walk and get out and about.
  • manage and cope with symptoms like fatigue or breathlessness.
  • Communicate when speech is difficult.
  • Enjoy food and drink.

A big part of the Rehab Team’s role is to work with patients and their family to help people return home, or to stay at home, if that's what's important to them.

The Team work closely with all staff in order to ensure that care is well co-ordinated and embraces a “what matters to you” approach.
