On 16th December 2025, my wife Jill passed away peacefully at Strathcarron Hospice after a short but brave fight with cancer. On 02/03/2026, myself, my son Derek & my daughter Jan are taking on the challenge of the 20 mile walk from Estepona to Marbella. A walk that Jill and I done in small part numerous times on our holiday's to the area. We will be not only doing it in memory of Jill, but to raise as much money for Strathcarron as we can due to the tough financial constraints the hospice works under.

For being a place where such sadness happens, the staff go out their way to make sure patients and families have as much comfort and help as humanly possible. Nothing is too much trouble and that, is what makes Strathcarron a very special place. It takes approx £20k per day to run the hospice with only around 20% of the funding coming from the NHS therefore, Strathcarron rely on fundraising. We know what we can raise will be a drop in the ocean to what is needed long term, however even if we can raise a small amount, it will help to maintain the exceptional care and dignity Jill was given by staff in her last days.
Our walk holds a special place for us as it was a walk Jill and I had planned to complete. She will be there in spirit and knowing her, she wouldn't have been shy to get you to open your wallets and donate.

**Update - The original target of £1500 has already been smashed. Thank you so so much to everyone. We know you are donating to charity however it's very humbling to know that you have donated to honour Jill. Thank you. We didn't know or expect what to set as a target, our goal is just to raise as much as we can. So on to the next target.

**Update 2 - Wow. Absolutely blown away with all your generosity. The second target of £2500 has now been smashed. Thank you. Can we double it?, let's find out. Just over 3 weeks until the walk. Preparations are well underway with flights and accommodation booked, shoes broken in and route planned.

**Update 3 - With now just under a week to go, we are over the £3100 mark. Incredible. Thank you all. Just as an addition to this walk, my nephew Colin Wright is set to undertake an incredible challenge to raise money for Strathcarron by cycling from Al Qudra, Dubai to Abu Dhabi and back again at the end of March. This is in excess of 210Km. He has set up a separate fundraising page through Just Giving. Derek Williamson
