We have an excellent opportunity for a Consultant in Palliative Medicine to join us and contribute to shaping the future of our progressive Hospice.

Consultant in Palliative Medicine 

Hours: 6 or 8 Sessions per week (+ additional 2 sessions paid per week for 1 in 5 on-call commitment) 

£91,474 - £121,548 per annum, pro rata + 8% availability supplement

We have an exciting opportunity for a 5th Consultant in Palliative Medicine to join our team and contribute to shaping the ongoing development of Strathcarron Hospice.  We are situated in Central Scotland with easy access to Glasgow and Edinburgh as well as many beautiful rural areas and the Trossachs National park.  

We are the sole provider of community, in patient and hospital specialist medical palliative care services in our catchment area and have an established reputation as an independent Hospice with excellence in clinical practice, research and education. We also champion services like Hospice @ Home and an innovative Community Development Team. 

Our team of Consultants work across the Hospice In-patient Unit, communities and the Hospital palliative care team at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.  As well as being a key member of our comprehensive multi-professional team, the post holder will also be a member of the Hospice senior management team overseeing the delivery of our Hospice strategy and driving forward service developments, training and research programmes. 

Applications will also be considered from those :

  • who have submitted their CESR application and awaiting a decision from the GMC (a locum appointment would be made in the first instance with a view to becoming substantive)
  • who are anticipating gaining their CCT within the next 6 months
