The Strathcarron Hospice Charity Shop in Hallam Road, Stenhousemuir has (as always) been buzzing with activity over the past few weeks. Staff and supporters from Many Hands in the Community, Certas Energy's charity and volunteering programme have volunteered their time to support their local Hospice.

Strathcarron is hugely grateful to the enthusiastic, tidy and incredibly helpful volunteers who have chosen to support their local Hospice Charity shop. They've helped unload the many bags and boxes of fantastic supporter donations. From hanging clothes, alphabetising books, sorting through toys, checking the working order of electrical goods and moving furniture; they’ve helped to price, tag and display them all.

It's a busy and important role, and thanks to the help of these hard-working volunteers, now all these wonderful items will be available for shoppers to buy. This will help to raise needed funds for Strathcarron Hospice, helping people with life limiting conditions to live their lives.

By choosing charity shops and buying preloved, you are helping to raise the £14,632 daily cost of Strathcarron Hospice specialist end of life care and services our charity provides free to individuals and their families across local communities.

We are incredibly grateful to all our generous supporters, without these donations, as a Hospice charity we just could not carry on.

Fiona Hannah, Deputy Retail Manager, Strathcarron Hospice, “We’re working with our local education partners to use the Hospice charity shop as an opportunity to provide work experience for students, as well as charity days for our local corporate partners, until the lease ends in October.

Our old shop in Stenhousemuir is still currently trading, thanks to the Certas Energy volunteers who are helping to support this. Volunteers are the beating hearts of our local community and their passion and dedication to Strathcarron is overwhelming. Without their ongoing support, we couldn’t continue to ensure our charity shops continue to trade and support a sustainable circular local economy – as well as to raise much needed funds for your local Hospice”.

Robert Everitt-Barden, Employee Experience Manager, Certas Energy “Our teams have thoroughly enjoyed their volunteering experience at Strathcarron Hospice. As part of a global PLC and employing more than 2,300 employees across the UK, we understand the importance of supporting charities and good causes that are meaningful to our people and will create measurable social impact in our communities”.

If you or your organisation would like to take part in your own volunteering experience with Strathcarron Hospice, you can.  Strathcarron Hospice shops are a hub of activity and the skills, passion and all the things that make you, YOU, will be welcomed and valued. Our volunteers are amazing and we are incredibly grateful to all of them!
