During the past 13 weeks since ‘Lockdown’ began the whole Strathcarron Hospice team has been quickly adapting our services to meet the current needs.

We have directly responded to the challenges Covid-19 has brought with it, both inside and outside of the Hospice itself to ensure the safety of all patients, staff and visitors. Although hygiene has always been a top priority for us when caring for patients with compromised immune systems, we are currently spending an extra £500 per week on PPE and as all nurses now require more uniforms we have spent £2,200 making them available.

In your local area our Community Development Team has been busier than ever supporting individuals and groups to make sustainable connections in their own communities. Understandably, many people have struggled with isolation, illness and bereavement during this time and we have reacted to this by setting up a Community Advice and Listening Line. Friendly volunteers are available from 9am until 7pm to have a chat with anyone who needs support or is fed up with the boredom, loneliness and isolation or who maybe find themselves in a new caring role. We have also produced useful publications to help you and these are all available by calling the advice line on 01324 827383.
