Welcome to the first week in September which officially brings us into Autumn.

Many people recognise Autumn as the season of reflection, with the autumnal equinox giving us a day and night of exactly the same length. Many ancient cultures believe this represents the light and darkness we all experience during our lives.

With reflection brought into focus we are reminded of loved ones who remain in our hearts but are no longer physically here with us. Without exception, everyone at some point, will cherish and love someone who has died, and our grief is a symbol of all the love we continue to hold.

To Absent Friends Week is a Scotland-wide annual festival of remembrance and storytelling which takes place during the first week in November. This year we are asking you to share your love and memories of a special person by joining in our first Life, Love, Memories walk. Make new memories by walking at a place your 'Absent Friend' loved....the beach, a forest, city, park, lochside, riverbank or local neighbourhood.

Kindly sponsored by Candied Ice Cream Parlour, choose your own distance and route and ask your friends, family and loved ones to make a donation in memory of your special person. Amrit Dhillon of Candied has a very special personal reason for supporting this event as it was his late Dad's wish that he continued to support the work of the Hospice where he sadly and peacefully passed away.

Please remember and celebrate the life of your precious person by taking part in the Life, Love, Memories Walk from 1st to 7th November.
