Meet Sarah, one of Strathcarron's inspirational Women in a series of interviews to mark International Women's Day.

Sarah is our go-to person at Strathcarron, always ready with a smile and a creative solution to any technical issue. From being on hand with any tech glitches in our Near Me patient online consults, to ensuring that our office and community teams had access to equipment and software, to safely and efficiently work from home during the pandemic.

What are the 3 main things I do at Strathcarron?

My small team and I provide IT Support to all staff working within the Hospice and externally. I also ensure that everyone has increased confidence with Communication and IT Systems by delivering training and help with ongoing development. I also enjoy the creative aspect to my role by creating photography and video projects for the Hospice.

Most interesting person I’ve met?

I had the pleasure of meeting JK Rowling at my primary school. It was before she was super famous when she released her 3rd book, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. She told me to never be scared to be creative. She encouraged me to use my imagination as it can lead to wonderful places and don't be afraid to explore them.

What would be my super power?

Smiling - when you smile... you look and feel better. When you smile... others smile too. When others smile... they look and feel better too.

Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a truly beautiful thing and that’s a superpower that we could all do with right now. 🙂

What has been your best day/memory at Strathcarron and why?

I’ve so many lovely memories in my year at Strathcarron. I walk to work, so get to see the beautiful sunrises and sunsets in the sky over the Hospice. I also enjoy seeing early morning wildlife such as deer, hares and woodpeckers roaming the beautiful grounds, they provide a very calming and tranquil atmosphere.
