..... it is about making a difference.

The 1st of April signals the start of a new financial year for many organisations, including Strathcarron Hospice.

In its 38th year, the Hospice team continues to be privileged with caring for local people living with a terminal or life-limiting illness. And, of course, we are only able to do this with the generous financial support of the communities we work within. Over and above local NHS funding we require £12,900 in charitable income every day to keep all our services up and running, providing the highest level of specialist care.

To all those people who have supported us over the past year, we cannot thank you enough.  So many people have done so much to make sure our doors remain open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Looking forward to this financial year we expect our operating costs to increase as you would expect and it is the job of the dedicated Hospice Fundraising Team to ensure these costs are met. Every year, a number of fundraising events and campaigns are organised to raise vital funds. As much as possible we try to have something everyone can take part in to support their local hospice. This May, for example, there will be a golf tournament and we will be hosting a Ladies Lunch on 12th May at Westerwood Hotel, with guest speaker Edith Forrset. If you enjoy an evening of comedy, song and dance why not ‘let us Entertain You’ on Friday 24th May at the Inchyra Hotel, Laughs will be provided by Des Clarke, whilst music will be from Stevie McCrorie and Killer Sound City. The Stirling Marathon also takes place during May and, as an official charity partner, we have free places available for runners who commit to raising funds. Of course, many people have their own ideas and organise a fundraising event in aid of Strathcarron and we are always happy to support everyone to maximise their fundraising.

There really is an opportunity for everyone to get involved; whether as an individual, a  group of workmates, friends and family, or social club. Please get in touch with Claire Kennedy, Community Fundraiser on 01324 826222 or email [email protected] to find out how you can become involved.
