How many sessions can I attend? Expand Initially you would be offered a twelve week placement with a review at the ninth week. You will then be informed if a further placement can be offered.
How will I get there? Expand Some of our patients have someone to bring them. For those without transport of their own, our Hospice Volunteer Drivers can collect you in the morning and take you home at the end of the day.
When is Day Care available? Expand Our sessions run from 10am-4pm on Monday - Friday. Patients normally attend one day a week.
How can I be referred for Hospice Day Care? Expand Normally your GP or Hospital specialist will refer you to Strathcarron Day Care services. This referral will be followed up by a home visit. The Day Care Manager will then contact you by telephone and arrange for a short first visit to introduce you to Strathcarron Day Care staff and facilities. If you are a health professional, please ring us on 01324 826222 to contact a member of the Day Care team.
Will I see a Doctor in Day care? Expand Yes. Normally one of the hospice physicians will come and see you on your first or second visit to Day care. They can also see you on a more regular basis if there are issues in relation to your main illnesses. You will however remain under the care of your own GP, who we will contact should there be any advice or changes to your treatment regime.
