Strathcarron Hospice is very grateful to be supported by a number of businesses as their nominated ‘Charity of the Year’.

The money donated through this fundraising is vital to the running of the Hospice.

The team at Merck Stirling has been fundraising for the Hospice since 2020.

Merck’s Employee Activity Group get staff to vote annually for a chosen charity to support with Strathcarron Hospice being the beneficiary for the last few years.

Staff have been hugely active in their fundraising efforts including taking part in the Kiltwalk, zip slides, marathons, climbing Ben Nevis, race nights, bake sales, holding regular raffles and donating the profits from their tuck shop to name just a few!

Their fundraising achievements have won them an internal award of 2000 Euros from the international Merck head office in 2024.

The donation covered the cost of two syringe pumps used to help patients receive their medication in a measured and continuous way meaning their symptom relief is continuous as opposed to short bursts of relief per dose.

Roslyn Cameron, Merck Director, Operations and Stirling Site Manager, said : “We are delighted to have been able to help Strathcarron Hospice with this donation from Merck UK. Many of our staff have had friends or family who have used the services of the Hospice so it is a charity close to our hearts.

“We are proud to say our fundraising target is being increased and achieved year on year for the Hospice and we are able to support staff and patients in this way.

“There is a huge amount of benefits to taking part in community fundraising – it is great for staff engagement, raising moral, team work and there is immense satisfaction from the team. We feel proud to be helping a cause which is so deserving.”
