The Strathcarron Compassionate Communities team and people from the communities of Forth Valley co-produced the All About Me booklet. This helpful booklet enables you to record and find important information about your life, without having to sort through file after file.Jennifer explains how much the booklet has helped her, “Now, that I’m approaching 40 and with declining health, I found Strathcarron’s All About Me booklet really useful. Over the years the only thing I’ve ever been sure of is that I wanted to be an organ donor, beyond that I hadn’t thought about anything else. This booklet has forced me to sit and think about exactly what I want when the time comes and how I can relieve my family of having to carry the burden of trying to work out if what they choose would be the right choice. My dad dying 3 years ago lead to many discussions with the rest of my family. In February of this year, my mum’s best friend of 50 years passed away after a 6-month battle with Cancer. She didn’t have anything in place in writing, so there were many conflicting discussions about what she wanted her funeral to be like. The only thing that was agreed on was that she wanted her ashes scattered, but everyone had different opinions on where to scatter them because she changed her mind so often. If she had something like the All About Me booklet in place, her funeral arrangements would have been so much easier and there wouldn’t have been any disagreements, no second guesses and her ashes would have been scattered exactly where she would have wanted them to be”.
