As our Primary and Secondary Schools prepare to finish up for the Summer holidays, we wanted to take this opportunity to thank all school communities across Forth Valley, Cumbernauld & Kilsyth for your incredible support over the last year.

No one could have predicted what a turbulent year it would be for us all, not least our schools, and we want to send you our heartfelt thanks for keeping Strathcarron in your thoughts throughout this time.

Our school communities have supported our Fundraising efforts in a number of ways including taking on their own Santa hat days, celebrating our 40th Birthday and choosing to hold #GoYellow days. Pupils and staff have also taken on personal challenges like 8 year old James from Stirling who ran 5K every day in March or Mrs Dickson at Grangemouth High School who took on a 26 mile Kiltwalk in April. Secondary pupils have also researched and presented as part of the YPI Initiative in support of Strathcarron with groups from Denny High School and St Mungo’s High School successful in securing grants of £3,000 each.

But our work with schools is not just in Fundraising and raising awareness; we have an ongoing partnership with Larbert High School upcycling goods in the Art department as well as creating beautiful pieces of art within the Hospice – we wait patiently to have the finishing touches added to a stained glass effect window in the In-patient unit. Furthermore, we have worked with schools to engage within the wider community with school pupils sharing letters and gifts with isolated individuals and Care Home residents in their communities.

These are just some of the examples of kind, thoughtful gestures which have come from our school communities; it really is a privilege to work with you all and we wish you an enjoyable summer break.
