Meet the Education Team

"You matter because you are you.  You matter to the last moment of your life and we will do what we can not only to help you die peacefully but to live until you die"

(Saunders Selected Writings 1958-2004)

As the department of Education, Research and Practice Development, we are passionate about supporting Strathcarron Hospice’s vision of helping people to live as well as they can with their illness and make the most of the time they have left. We do this, regardless of where the person is living (e.g. at home, care home or hospital) or what life limiting condition they may have (i.e. cancer and non-malignant conditions).

We do this by:

  • Supporting the promotion of excellence in the clinical areas of the hospice
  • Collaborating with others (e.g. Care Homes, Health and Social Care Partners, Scottish Ambulance Service, Schools) through creative ventures such as project ECHO and the QELCA (Quality End of Life for All) programme
  • Working alongside communities (e.g. supporting volunteers, health and social care and third sector organisations)

We are a multidisciplinary team with a wealth of experience in working in palliative and end of life care. We have experience in working with a variety of learners/disciplines and advocate a participatory/experiential approach to teaching and learning.
