We are looking for volunteers to assist with vital roles in the Hospice and in the work we do in the local community - roles urgently needing filled include:

URGENT REQUIREMENT FOR VOLUNTEER ROLES

Volunteer Drivers

Role Purpose       

To provide transport to and from the Hospice for people who otherwise would not be able to come in to visit family or attend medical/counselling appointments.

To assist the In-Patient Unit by driving to collect medical items and prescriptions to and from the local pharmacy/hospital.

The Hospice operates a “WhatsApp” groups for drivers where assistance is required and once a driver has picked this up – details will be sent via email

This person facing role is subject to a Disclosure Scotland Protection of Vulnerable Groups (“PVG”) checks.

Strathcarron Compassionate Neighbours

Befriender volunteers to visit and support a person in their local community. Duties could include:

· Visiting the same person at home at an agreed time weekly or fortnightly

· Offering friendship and conversation

· Provide a listening ear about poor health and/or planning ahead for poorer health or for death where appropriate

· Fun activities - for example chatting about common interests, playing dominos, skill sharing such as crafting etc.

Compassionate Neighbours training will be provided with optional training including goal setting, talking mats, SAGE & THYME (communication aid) training. Cuppa and Catch Up sessions for volunteers are hosted quarterly, and one to one support from staff is available when required.

We have people waiting in Falkirk, Stirling, Clacks and Cumbernauld/Kilsyth who would love someone to visit regularly.

Volunteer roles

There are a variety of volunteer roles (*) including but not limited to:

  • administration support
  • reception
  • kitchen
  • servery
  • helping in a Hospice shop
  • gardening
  • maintenance
  • arts/crafts
  • collecting and replacing collection tins from businesses supporting the Hospice
  • counselling
  • compassionate neighbour schemes in the local community
  • one-off events throughout the year:
    • Raffles
    • Light Up a Life
    • Snowdrop Appeal
    • Supermarket bag packing
    • Events Marshalls
